Home Decor Accessories-How To Choose The Right Care Home Furniture

Setting up a care home can be a daunting yet exciting experience; however there is one further thing to consider – choosing the right furniture.

 

Care home furniture must fulfil a wide range of needs, from looking and feeling comfortable and enticing – to being highly functional and durable. The best furniture you can choose covers all of these factors and more, allowing residents (who are often scared and worried at having to move) feel at home; as well as safe and secure.

 

This is often significant section of this specific issue. The first thing to consider is the chairs you will place in the living area of the home, as it’s useful if the reflect the chairs one might find in a residents’ house. These are generally high-backed, neutrally colour and furled armrests. These should also have ergonomic qualities, as residents will typically be sat in them for a large portion of time.

 

 

There are times, such as when the patient is ill or has a turn, where you’ll need to extract them from the chair easily, causing the minimum amount of distress. Specially-made care home furniture is usually adapted to meet this need, but it s worth having a trail-run before signing on the dotted line. Additionally, chairs should ideally be wipe-clean, so that any accidents are easily taken care of, with minimal impact on the furniture.

 

Secondly, the furniture found in care home bedrooms is equally important, as it should be comfortable and simple to use. As care homes are generally built with the aim of making them feel like a real ‘home‘, furniture can sometimes be less sturdy or durable; but this is something you should avoid at all costs, as your furniture needs to be able to last for years, and be capable of withstanding added pressure from those residents who are less mobile.

 

Last but not least, and perhaps most importantly, care homes should be a place of peace and tranquillity, allowing vulnerable adults to live out their last days in peace. The best piece of advice is to make it look as homely as possible, without letting the medical aspect overrule it.

Home Decor Tips-Things to Consider When Buying Kid’s Furniture

Furniture for a kids room is one of the most important purchases for your home. With the right furniture the kid’s rooms can also be a place which is proudly shown off with the rest of the home. Once the furniture is right you have the building blocks to create a great environment for your kids. The most important thing is finding furniture which is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Plan ahead about what type of furniture you’re looking for, how you would like to set it out in the room and then set a budget.

 

First consideration is the bed whether it’s single, king single or double sized. Beds for kids are usually available in all 3 sizes. Furthermore, the size of bed will depend on the size and layout of the bedroom itself. King Single beds are becoming more and more popular as they’re 15cm wider and 15cm longer than a standard single bed but allow a child to get the benefit of having their bed right from when they’re 2-18years of age (and beyond). A king single bed is the same length as a queen and adult king bed so it can certainly cater for growing kids. The double bed is wider than both but it’s the same length as a single bed. If you’re clever, choose a design which can grow with your child ie that has no baby features, this will ensure that you get your money’s worth from your purchase. The bed linen is something you can adapt to the age of the child.

 

This may easily be really important section of this subject. Getting a single bed in neutral colour helps you co-ordinate with your child’s room. Not only that, you can always get a trundle bed that can be slide under the bed when not in use. Convenient when your kid’s having sleepovers. If your children are sharing a room, bunk beds would be ideal as it saves up a lot of space in the room.

 

 

 

Your child can store all his clothes in a good size wardrobe. More clothes mean more space needed. A big wardrobe has a railing for hanging clothes and perhaps one or 2 drawers and/or shelves at the bottom. Smaller ones have shelves on one side and a hanging space on the other. So choose the one that’ll cater to your child’s need.

 

Apart from wardrobe, a chest of drawers is a great accessory to store clothes and those extra bits & pieces kids collect. A chest drawer makes a great addition to the room as a mirror can be set above it making it a perfect piece to finish off a kids’ room. A 3 drawer unit’s spacious enough for your kid’s clothing but you may want to find one that has an extra top shelf to keep the items which need to be easily accessed. When you’re looking for a chest of drawers it’s important that the runners come all the way out (full extension runners) so that your kids can reach easily into the backs of their drawers – very practical! A bookcase is a great space saver and keeps all of those books stashed away neatly. It’s also great if you can pick up a bookcase where you’re able to display kid’s favourite toys or trophies as well. There’s a variety of designs and sizes in the market out there. Some offers a few compartments that can be used for small rooms and many compartments with a few drawers that can be moved around. A small bookcase can act as a bedside table as well.

 

Set up a corner in the room for a desk. Your child can use the kid’s furniture to do their homework and other activities. Again, you can choose a single drawer desk or opt for desk with a few drawers.

 

Last of all, a toybox is a great accessory to store all your kid’s toys and things. Consider how big you want the toybox to be and find a good sturdy design. You can get a custom made or buy a ready made. A good toybox should have a safety feature for example a safe gas-lift lid so your child will not hurt himself while opening and closing the lid. A good looking toybox is a must for kids rooms and often kids are happy to pack their things away if there is one big space to stash their toys away in!
